[Vil may not necessarily be a bookworm, but he was a young man with goals, and currently his goal was to continue his studies of the local herbs and such. He was just planning a brief exchange of books when he caught sight of a familiar face out of the corner of his eye. After a brief double-take he sets the books he was about to check out down, in order to get a closer look and- yep that is indeed Lyney's younger brother.
He did recall the boy being rather skittish last they met, so he made an effort to make some noise as he approached. Of course he may be so engrossed in his book that it's a futile effort, but it was an effort he made all the same.]
Freminet? Fancy seeing you here again, how are you?
[As he looked through the library, he figured that this would be the best place to find some peace and quiet. After coming back here, all he wanted to do was tune out the rest of the world and just daydream. Of course, without the ocean, there was little he could do.
And yet, he was prepared for people to come up and talk to him. This was no exception as he heard a familiar voice nearby.]
Um...it's nice to meet you again, Mr. Vil. And I have been doing well...for the most part.
[He… didn’t seem to be entirely aware that he’s been gone. He didn’t want to startle him with the knowledge, but it would be best if he knew.]
I’m glad. You’ve been gone for some time. It’s not exactly an uncommon phenomenon here, but we were worried all the same.
[And by “we”, he means “your anxious mess of a brother had an episode or several”, but he’s sure he can leave that unspoken. Freminet knew Lyney better than he did after all.
Besides, Lyney came out of it alright, and Freminet was back. All’s well that ends well.]
We still have that room open for you, if you’re interested in staying with us.
[He already knew who he was talking about. It wasn't a surprise to see that his brother and him would be worried. Although, he had to wonder just how much his brother was fretting over him. Regardless, he couldn't think much about it now...]
And um, if that's okay, I wouldn't mind staying with you and my brother.
Your brother and I. I believe I mentioned that we’re friends at the party.
[Granted, that was before they were together, but that’s something for Lyney to reveal. It wasn’t his place, since he was little more than a stranger to Freminet.]
Well, we’re still roommates, and there’s two extra rooms in our cabin. So you can take your pick of which one you like best.
[Not that they were terribly different, just different wall paint and location. Still, a choice was a choice, and being taken here could leave one desperate for some sense of control and certainty. At least that was how he’d felt.]
Lyney will be very happy to hear the news indeed. Would you like to head home now? I imagine there’s some things we should pick up in the market on the way back.
[Toiletries, decorations for his new room, and anything else that might catch Freminet’s eye. Vil has more than enough to cover it all.]
[Now that made Freminet raise an eyebrow or two. With the mention of friends, it made him wonder if there was something a little bit more. However, that wasn't his part to say. Instead, he'll tilt his head to the side as if he was wondering what else Vil would say.]
N-No, it's fine. I am more than willing to take whatever room you'll give me. I think that I can't be too picky about what I get here.
[Especially when the concept of 'home' was a little different now. Without Lynette or any of his other siblings here, it was odd knowing that this was going to be where he was living.]
And um...yes, we can do that. But what kind of things are you getting?
You'll be the one living in it, not me. Pick whatever you like better.
[He wasn't about to see this one neglecting himself whatsoever when it came to this. It could be tough here, he wanted to make sure Freminet had a comfortable place he could retreat to.]
Well that depends entirely on what you need. A hairbrush and toothbrush obviously, I can make you any clothes you might need, and some curtains, but you'll need to pick out the fabric. And of course there's decorations and extra furniture... anything you feel will make it more your space. Not that you need to pick everything out today, of course. Just things to keep in mind.
And don't worry about money, I'm among those who have remained here the longest so I've managed to secure my footing in some business early on, so cost is not a concern.
[That wasn't what he was expecting. Here, he thought that the materials he was looking for was supposed to be something else and not for him. For a moment, he stared in disbelief upon knowing this.]
What? Oh, there's no need to do any of that! I'm happy with just getting some of the basic necessaries here. You have already done a lot for me, I don't want to impose anymore than I already have.
[Because roommate, boyfriend of his brother, or what have you? The last thing he wanted was to make someone feel obligated to take care of him.]
Nonsense. You aren’t imposing in the least. It’s important to be able to have your own space to retreat to when things get difficult, and you can’t make a space yours without adding a personal touch.
[To him that in and of itself was as much of a necessity as the toiletries. Especially given what he saw from Freminet at the slumber party. He would absolutely need a place to escape to when he felt overwhelmed, or his social battery ran out.]
And besides, I believe shopping would be a fun way to know each other better, and it will give you a chance to ask any questions about this place as you think of them.
[He wanted to finish the rest and say that he wasn't worth it but he really couldn't say that. Not when he knew he would tell Lyney and he would fret over him. Taking a big sigh, it seems that he was at a loss of what to do.]
...I suppose I don't have a choice but to, do I? Then could I have ask a favor? Would it be possible to have a place where I can do some machine work? Just...a small one will do.
Of course. I have managed to downsize my workload recently, so my work room actually has some extra space if you're willing to share it- or would you like the workspace in your room?
[He was suspecting the latter, but it was worth a shot to try and get him a little more space in the house. There was no way this boy would advocate for himself, so Vil was fine with taking the initiative first. Even if he didn't accept it he'd know the offer was open, and Lyney could finish the job persuading him if it wound up being something that would truly be better for him.]
Though I should probably ask, what sort of machine work do you do?
If it's okay, I would like to make the workspace in my room.
[He said with a mumble or two. It was already a lot just to ask for this kind of thing. He dared not to make any more. He found himself sinking into his shoulders as this seemed like such a tall order for someone he just met but he just wanted to be a little bit selfish.]
As for what kind of machines, I generally make things out of seashells, corals, or other mechanical things I can find. Usually just to see if it might help someone else.
Then we'll make it happen. Everyone needs their own space to do their own thing. I would count that as a necessity. If you're having a difficult time accepting it from me, than presume I'm acting on Lyney's behalf.
[Since if it wasn't him out here doing this, it would be Lyney. In all fairness to Freminet, he was just a stranger. He hoped thinking of it as being from his brother as well would make it a little easier to swallow.
But listening to Freminet, he learned that he works with smaller things. So he'll need tools, storage for components, a suitable table or two, and probably some specialized things that he won't pretend to understand. Nothing too difficult, aside from getting him to accept everything in the first place. Working with one as shy and reserved as Freminet was a new experience for him. Well, actually no, Idia was about as shy, but he was also utterly insufferable as person, so Vil wasn't going to count him.]
The things you make must be very lovely then. Lyney mentioned you were fond of diving, is that how you usually get your materials?
[He really wanted to say something but he just couldn't. All he could do was just stare at Vil with wide eyes before quickly looking back down. It seems that Vil knew how to get the boy to be speechless. With the mere mention of his brother, all he could do was sigh.]
...I guess you realized that Lyney is protective of me and likes to keep an eye on me.
[Not that he could blame him. Not when he hadn't seen him for quite sometime here.]
But yes, that is how I get them. I have my own base by the ocean too to build and collect things. I like to think that they could be of some use for others.
Lyney's been here for over half a year at this point, and stayed with Webby and I from the start.
[And he was a complete and utter disaster for the longest time. You know what? He's just going to rat Lyney out completely here. He adores that foolish boy, but so help him he's not getting paid to cover for the whole disaster that was Lyney's first few weeks here.]
Normally I'd leave Lyney to talk to you about this, but I know for a fact he wont so I'll just tell you: Lyney fared very poorly in the beginning. He was constantly besides himself with worry for you and Lynette, and refused to talk about it, acting like everything was fine.
But I'm the actor, he's not, so he was doing a terribly poor job at playing pretend in my opinion. I eventually backed him into a corner and called him out on it, and forced to talk him through things enough to settle somewhat.
So yes, I know he cares and worries about you and Lynette to the point he'll be an absolute idiot about it.
[It may have been a small rant full of exasperation, but there was affection in it too. Well, there had to be or Vil would have thrown him out the window already. But! Deep breath! Just going to smile like that whole tirade never happened.]
You're very thoughtful then, Lyney said as much. You're every bit the polite sweet boy he described.
[What could Freminet say to that? He knew his brother would fret over him and his sister. Especially since he didn't know what they were doing and when he built his life around them too. Family was everything to Lyney and without them, he wouldn't know what to do. Sinking his head into his shoulders, he found himself feeling as though he was scolded.
It wasn't his fault and yet, he couldn't help but feel as though it was. Whatever problems Lyney was facing, it felt that he was to manage them too. His brother always had difficulty expressing his emotions. Unlike Freminet, he would hide it well.
...At least to the public. But not to either of his closest siblings.]
I wonder if I should go and talk to him about it. However, I have a feeling that he wouldn't say anything and pretend that nothing was wrong.
[Pause]
...Which makes me worried since I don't want to upset him again.
